  • Tarwagu Buddha (or) Ruby Eye Buddha Image

    Padamyar Myetshin Buddha Image ShwedagonRuby Eye Buddha Image ( Padamyar Myetshin Buddha Image ) is located on the upper premise of Shwedagon, which can only be accessed by men and monks. You can view the Buddha image through a live video feed in each 4 corners of the pagoda.

    Also known as Tarwagu Buddha Image, it is said to be most sacred and grants one true wish. Legends has it that princes would come and pray before the buddha image before trying to overthrow one another. The King eventually had to place a ban that no price shall ever pay homage to this Buddha image ever again. This Buddha image was deemed so powerful that, it was moved to upper terrance where not many can gain access to.

  • Weizar Zawgyi Buddha Image

    Weizar Zawgyi ShwedagonLocated near the Saturday corner, this small stupa is adorned with Zawgyi (Shaman or Alchemist) figures. It is believed that these zawgyi figures were built with otherworldly supernatural powers. Most peculiar thing is, no matter how early you rise to come and donate flowers to this image, there is always bound to someone beating you to it.

  • Su Taung Pya Buddha (or) Shin Saw Pu Buddha Image

    ShinSawPu Pagoda ShwedagonBetter known as Shin Saw Pu Pagoda, named after Queen Shin Sawbu, the 15th Monarch of Hantharwaddy Kingdom in 15th Century. She was a great devotee to Shwedagon and helped shaped the history and architecture of Shwedagon.

    It is located near Rahu Corner. There are yellow and green champak tress planted near the image.

  • Shin Ma Htee Buddha Image

    Shinmahtee ShwedagonShinmahtee Buddha Image is placed near the Sunday Corner, at the northern prayer hall of Naung Daw Gyi Pagoda at Shinmahti Hall. It was said to be built by Shinmahti Monk a millennium ago.

  • Shin Itzagawna Buddha Image

    Shin Issa Gawna Buddha ShwedagonAlso near the Sunday corner, at the southern prayer hall is Shin Itzagawana Buddha Image. Shin Itzagawana was a divine being with one eye from goat, and another from bull. To m, he purposed constructed in a way that one eye is open wide and the other would be narrow.

  • Sandawtwin Buddha Image

    SanDawTwin ShwedagonLocated at Northern Sandawtwin Hall. It was built over the well which washed the 8 locks of hair received from Buddha before enshrining inside Shwedagon. Legend has it that there is a tunnel below the stupa and the water from the well is from the same water source as ayeyarwaddy river and would rise with the tide. Folklores also says that, you can hear the water splashing on full moon and new moon days.

    Latpatlet Buddha ShwedagonAt the Eastern Prayer Hall, inside a small cavity lies Latpetlet Buddha Image. Unlike other Buddha images, where the right hand would be in pronation position, this image’s right hand is in supination position hence the name latpetlet.(which literally means hand in supination position).

  • Pyadarshin Buddha Image

    Padashin Buddha Image ShwedagonLocated inside a stupa between Eastern Prayer Hall and Tuesday Corner is Padarshin Buddha Image made out of bronze. With wide forehead, it is believed that there is live mercury stored inside it.
